Flower Gardening Program Featuring Money-Saving Tips and Exceptional Plants for Gorgeous, Pollinator-Friendly Flower Gardens

Two dynamic lectures hosted by the Master Gardeners in support of the Therapeutic Garden project at WMHC

The Budget-Wise Gardener: Plant the Best for Less! Ideas for getting the best price and value for exceptional plants. Covering design concepts for eye-popping, pollinator-friendly landscapes requiring less maintenance and water. Container gardening takes on a whole new spin with these cost-effective, creative ideas!

Save the Pollinators: “Attractive” Landscapes for Pollinators and Homeowners! Highlights eye-catching perennials and flowering shrubs – mostly native - that benefit BOTH homeowners and pollinators. The focus will also be on sustainable care - creating landscapes that require less water, fertilizer and pesticides.

Presenter: Kerry Ann Mendez. An award-winning garden designer, author and lecturer, focusing on time-saving gardening techniques, workhorse plants and sustainable practices. Awarded the 2014 Gold Medal from the Massachusetts Horticultural Society. Published popular gardening books; her latest, The Budget-Wise Gardener, is available now.

An online giving promotion hosted by the Community Foundation of Washington County MD for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in the county.

The WMHC Auxiliary creates spaces where patients, visitors, and staff can rest, heal, and be inspired to improve their lives. Donations received during Washington County Gives will support the Therapeutic Gardening Program offering patients opportunities to participate in gardening activities outside enjoying the beauty of nature. This year donations will be used towards a focus project of an outdoor pavilion, to provide patients a quiet place in the shade next to a water feature on the campus at Western Maryland Hospital Center.

In November of 1957, Western Maryland Center received 24 admissions from 2 State Facilities - the humble beginnings of providing care and compassion that continues thru to this day.

On September 19, 2017 Western Maryland Hospital Center received the 10,000th admission and will provide the same high level of care and compassion that has been on display for 60 years.

A name change may have taken place over the years, but there is still one aspect that will never change - Caring is Our Business!

The group creates spaces where patients, visitors, and staff can rest, heal, and be inspired to improve their lives. Donations received during Washington County Gives will support the Therapeutic Gardening Program offering patients opportunities to participate in gardening activities outside enjoying the beauty of nature. Donations will also be used to maintain the unique train gardens, multiple water features, and memorial gardens on the campus.

There are milestones for donations in certain hours of the day, number of donations, first donation, last donation. Looking for a concerted effort of Donations during the 11am hour on May 2nd.

An opportunity learn of Career opportunities at WMHC and take part in on the spot interviews, resume reviews, online applications and other career resources available at HagerHall Conference and Event Center.

An opportunity to inform the public about this common and important form of Brain Injury. Time will be allowed to answer questions.

Washington County Health Department - Zika Town Hall

Maryland's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's Deputy Secretary for Public Health Services, Dr. Howard Haft, presented the Department's work, both current and anticipated, with regard to the Zika virus and its prevention and control.

An opportunity that informed the public about what is promising to be a significant emerging public health threat. The meeting is open to the public.
