JOB TITLE: LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE
CLASSIFICATION: LPN I or LPN II, depending on experience

JOB DUTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Performs a variety of nursing procedures such as administering prescribed medications, monitoring patients' vital signs, obtaining specimens for laboratory testing, and assisting physical examinations; Performs patient medical treatments such as catheterizations, suctioning procedures, tracheotomy care, and the application of dressings; Documents patient progress and, as directed, keeps physicians, registered nurses, and other designated personnel informed of same.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prior experience providing direct care to patients in a rehabilitation setting.

Candidates must be registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration prior to completion of probationary period and must maintain a current registration during their time of employment. JOB DUTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Sets up, operates and monitors ventilators, oxygen delivery systems, and suctioning equipment; administers aerosol medications and medical gases per policy; provides respiratory therapy procedures such as postural drainage, tracheotomy changes, breathing exercises and naso-tracheal suctioning.

JOB DUTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Oversees nursing care processes, including the development of staffing plans, organization and evaluation of daily nursing assignments, and direct supervision of licensed and non-licensed nursing staff; Assists Program Director with data collection, analysis and reporting of performance improvement activities, outcomes measurement, patient satisfaction, and staff satisfaction; Provides brain injury education to staff, patients, and families. Implements staff education plan including department orientation and ongoing education as required by law or regulation or as indicated; Covers Day Shift Leader duties as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Graduation from Approved School of Nursing

EXPERIENCE: 3 years of experience as a registered nurse to include one year in a supervisory, administrative or teaching capacity, and 2 years in a hospital setting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: ACLS certification; Bachelors Degree in Nursing; Rehabilitation experience
